Abstract oil paintings

Abstract oil painting

Inspired by the artist Per Kierkeby, I first started painting abstract in 1999. We were close to a new millennium and I had just completed my studies at Haderslev teacher seminar with pictorial art and religion as my specialized studies, and now I studied theology at Aarhus University , was greatly absorbed by the famous Teodice theme (God is dead) and existentialism according to Søren Kierkegaard. Therefore, I could not help but inspire an expression that could match my philosophical interests. It was very natural to start letting my painting go to the ground behind a white surface to create a new non-existent world by using fragments from a recognizable world along with unrecognizable elements.

Today, I still paint abstract next to my figurative paintings, and is created using surplus paint from my figurative paintings. Often these paintings work by relieving me from thoughts I can not handle concrete. It's an exemption just to paint loose while in my figurative paintings I work very disciplined.
